Tips for Removing Scotch Tape Residue

2024-07-09

In daily life, we will encounter many labels and trademarks on products that are pasted on them, and after tearing them off, there will be a layer of glue residue on them and it is difficult to clean them off. There are also tapes and glues that are usually used to stick things or need to be deliberately torn off. Some of them will fall off because of aging and natural loosening over time. At this time, there will often be residual glue dirt and other phenomena that are difficult to remove.

The following are some tips for removing the residue of transparent tape:

1. Use oil painting brush cleaning liquid (turpentine) and wipe the places with tape marks with a little brush cleaning liquid with facial tissue. The glue part will automatically adsorb on the facial tissue, and the stickiness will completely disappear, just like dust is swept away by water-soaked paper. It is also relatively affordable and can be bought at art supply stores.

2. The transparent tape loses the binding water in the middle of the tape during the pasting process, and the adhesion is tight. You can use the principle of like dissolves like, and continue to use new tape to slowly stick the things on the old tape, or you can directly use gasoline or banana water. Of course, the effect of using water is the least ideal, and it is also difficult to remove with water, and sometimes it can't even be removed.

3. If the area is not large, you can consider using an eraser. You can also consider using expired hand care products and apply them on the adhesive surface to replenish the bound water in the tape and reduce its viscosity, so that the effect of removing traces will be much better.

4. You can use a mixture of soap, a little ammonia and turpentine to remove a lot of dirt and make the glass surface more shiny. This method is only suitable for tiles, ceramics, and glass materials.

5. You can use toothpaste to apply on the residual glue, and then scrub it with a rag for about 10 minutes.
